Windom Police Department reported on the 24th at 6:42am an officer took a vehicle theft report. The owner a resident of Windom reported her 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500, that is silver in color with a black plastic toolbox was stolen from her residence at 547 River Bluff Drive. The Silverado was taken sometime after 7pm on the 23rd. The owner was home at the time and unknown if vehicle was locked. Estimated value is $1,500. On the 20th at approximately 3:15pm an officer took a damage to property report in the 1300 block of 10th Avenue. The Reporting party stated last he was in his garage was on the 18th. When trying to enter he noticed the door was split on the inside around the door knob. Nothing appeared to be missing and no damage estimate was received.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office were busy again on the 22nd with a fire. At 2:07am The Lakefield Fire Department responded to a grass fire in the ditch just off MN 86 near the golf course. Crews were on scene for about 1.5 hours. At 6pm The Alpha Fire Department was paged for mutual aid by the Dunnell Fire Department for a fire. Alpha Fire Departmnt was on scene for about 2 hours. On the 23rd at 1:35pm The Lakefield Fire Department responded to a field on fire in Rost Township. Crews were on scene for about 15 minutes. And then at 1:55pm The Jackson Fire Department responded to a grass fire in Des Moines Township. Crews were on scene for about 1.5 hours. At 8:47 PM A deputy responded to a report of vehicle tampering in the 500 block of 5th Street in Jackson. A car alarm went off, and another vehicle was seen leaving the scene at a high rate of speed.

Windom PD set the Trick or Treating hours for Halloween on October 31st from 4 PM – 7 PM. The Police Department is Wishing everyone a Happy & Safe Halloween and please drive around town carefully that night! Other opportunities for Trick or Treating around town are:
On Halloween- Monday October 31st, Windom Area Health will be sponsoring their Halloween Spooktacular, from 3:30-6pm along the Wellness Path. And Good Samaritan Center is inviting the all the ages to their Drive thru Trick or Treat Event Monday, October 31st from 4-6 at Remick Ridge, Mikkelsen Manor, and Sogge Home. Come show off your costumes to the residents as you go to each building for a different treat weather permitting, in case of inclement weather treats will be handed out in each buildings foyer. Please remember there will be no public bathrooms available.
