Windom Police Department reported on the 16th at approximately 1:50pm a Windom Resident reported young kids that climbed over the kayak cage at Cottonwood Lake Park and were using life jackets and were swimming in their underwear. After investigation, the officer spoke to the two 14-year-old boys and explained the process for using the equipment. Officer explained the equipment was free to use if they go through the proper steps to gain access. The Officer then advised them that if anything was stolen or damage was caused, they could be charged criminally.  Windom PD handled a two car accident around 11pm at 1550 1st Ave- the Speedway Lot, in Windom. A 2005 Chevy Trailblazer backed into a parked 2005 Pontiac Bonneville, there were no injuries and minor damage to the Trailblazer

The Windom City Council met on Tuesday the 16th. The Council approved the amplification permit for Hy-Life and exempt gambling permit for Des Moines Valley Chapter of MN Deer Hunters and Pheasants Forever Inc.

There was a Public Hearing on an application with USDA for Emergency Services Radio Project was held. There were no public comments.  The radio project is estimated around $120,000 with a grant of $50,000 from USDA. The Council approved the Radio Project going to new police and fire radios. Discussion was held on Windom Area Health staffing and looking at having enough available staff along with costs for staffing increasing. The 2021-22 Annual Audit Report showed Windom Area Health as being in good financial position and the Audit was accepted. No dates have been set to the 2023 budget workshop that should take place in October/November. The Fire Department is accepting application and looking for new candidates to join their team.

Uff Da Days is Bringin’ it Back!!! This weekend, the 20th and 21st, in Dovray City Park. Fun for ALL AGES starts right off the day at 1pm with Inflatables, old fashioned midway games with Wristbands available. Beanbag Tournament starts at one with registration from Noon to 12:45. The Roll-in is from 2-5 ANYTHING with wheels qualifies-Cars, Cycles, Tractors, Trucks. There is a Beer Garden and Refreshments in the Park. The Murray County Beef Producers will be serving a Burger Feed from 5 till it’s gone! $7 per meal. From 5-9 Kayla Daniels Music will be playing in front of Jimmy’s Pub and a Street Dance featuring Wright Music Entertainment will be held from 9pm-1am. On Sunday an Ecumenical Church service will be held starting at 9am at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, everyone is invited, and The Dovray Fire Department will be flipping up a pancake breakfast from 10 to 1 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church and from 1-4 in the park will be more fun with BINGO and a scavenger hunt and beer garden.

The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners met August 16th and during the Drainage Authority Meeting the Board approved to accept the petition to repair and hire ISG to develop repair plan options for County Ditch #21. The Board also moved to accept the B&W Control Specialist quote in the amount of $54,500 for 2022 ditch maintenance in Cottonwood County and add a mile section of road ditch along the west side of County Road 8 between sections 25 and 26 of Midway Township.
