Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 26th at aproxmately 1:10pm Deputies responded to an accident with injuries at Highway 60 and 6th Street by McDonalds. Deputies assisted Windom Police Department and the Minnesota State Patrol. On the 27th, at approximately 5:30pm Deputies responded to the Windom Area Hospital for a report of an Animal Bite. The child was bitten by the family dog. The family was explained quarantine guidelines and agreed to put the dog down.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reported on the 27th, Deputies assisted motorists with vehicle issues, responded to a theft report in Jackson and in a separate call an issue with a juvenile in Jackson. At approximately 6:10pm the Jackson Fire Dept. was paged to a pickup fire in Enterprise Township.  Crews were on scene for about 30 minutes and at 11:13pm Deputies responded to a report of harassment in Jackson. On the 28th, Deputies and the Jackson Fire Department escorted the Jackson Legion baseball team out to I-90 for their trip to the State Tournament in Luverne this weekend. A Jailer transported a 26-year-old male from the Carver County Jail back to the Jackson County Jail.  Jackson County had a warrant for the male for Aggravated Robbery -1st Degree, 1st Degree Burglary, Kidnapping, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Fleeing a Peace Officer on Foot, and Ineligible Person Possess Firearm.

Deputies also investigated a computer scam and conducted a requested welfare check and responded to a juvenile issue. In Heron Lake at approximately 3:30pm a Deputy responded to what was determined to be a civil issue over the sale of a vehicle.

According to the MN Dept of Resources, the Minnesota’s ruffed grouse spring population counts are up from last year, which was not expected during the current declining phase of the 10-year cycle — a pattern recorded for 72 years.

When it comes to sharp-tailed grouse, Minnesota’s population has increased significantly in the east-central portion of the state, according to spring population counts conducted by the DNR and cooperating organizations.
