Jackson County Sherriff’s Department on July 20th in the early afternoon, responded to a door-to-door peddler in Jackson that was believed to have not obtained a permit to do so. The party was located and was from Corona, CA. He was advised he could no longer go door to door until he obtained a permit from City Hall. Deputies also investigated a report of a Harassment Restraining Order violation.
At approximately 3pm, a deputy responded to a report of what the caller believed was an urn sitting under a bench at a cemetery in Minnesota Township. The deputy located the urn which was wrapped up in a clear bag. A Cremation Society of MN registration tag on the bottom of the urn identified the deceased party. The deputy called the Cremation Society of Minnesota who verified the name and that they had passed away in 2011. They also informed the deputy the party was a resident of Wright County, Minnesota but had no next of kin to call. The deputy called the Wright County Sheriff’s Office and confirmed that the person was a resident of their county, but they also had no next of kin information. The deputy then randomly called a funeral home in the Wright County area which happened to be the funeral home that provided the funeral services. They did have next of kin contact information for one relative in central Minnesota. The deputy made contact with that person who verified the ownership of the urn and has no idea how it ended up in a small, rural cemetery in Jackson County.
At 5:46pm Deputies responded to a Harassment Restraining Order violation in Jackson. After investigating, a 40-year-old male from Jackson was arrested for violating an Harassment Restraining Order.
