Yesterday morning, According to Windom Fire Chief Ben Derickson at approximately 7:30am the Fire Department was paged to 93702  470th Ave on County Jackson 15 in Delafield Township. A 60 X 100 Pole Barn was fully engulfed in flames. Chief Derickson stated that Heron Lake Fire Department brought an Engine and Tanker, Lakefield Fire Department brought two tankers and Jackson Fire Department brought two tankers to aide in the fight. They attacked the fire and brought it under control and out by 12:30pm. The Machine Shed was full of farm machines, lawn mowers, side by side welders, vehicles , tools and too many other items to mention. The building and contents are a total loss but Chief Derickson emphasized that it was a blessing no one was injured in this fire. The investigation to the cause of the fire began early afternoon yesterday and as of this report remains under investigation.

Windom Police Department reported a domestic assault yesterday morning at 8:39am. Officers were alerted to a verbal argument taking place in the area of the 100 block of 9th Street between an adult and a juvenile. While enroute to the scene of the disturbance the argument became physical. After investigation, an arrest was made of a 33 year old Windom Male for assaulting a family or household member by strangulation, a felony, pending review by the County Attorney’s Office.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Department reported on July 12th at approximately 10am Deputies responded to a report of fireworks at Dumonth Park in Jackson. Three Juveniles were located and the illegal fireworks were seized. At about 5pm Deputies responded to a report of a stolen bicycle from a residence in Jackson. Later in the evening that bike was located at Casey’s in Jackson.  Witnesses stated an unknown juvenile was riding the bike and left it there.  It was returned to the owner. A deputy responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle that had been stopped at a stop sign for several minutes at the intersection of CR 10 and CR 14.  The deputy located the vehicle and learned the driver had ran out of gas but had help on the way which arrived moments later.
