The Windom City Council recently took a tour of some of the city owned facilities in our community. KDOM sat down with Council person Jenny Quade and discussed her thoughts on the facilities they toured. Each day during the Noon Hour News time we will be featuring one building on the tour. Today we learn about the Windom Water Treatment Center.

Cottonwood County Sheriffs office was busy on May 18th when they had two incidents at approximately 5:45 pm. In the first report, Cottonwood County Sheriffs office received a report reference that a juvenile that was at an apartment at Perkins Creek and the Juvenile did not know where their parent was. Windom Police Department and Deputies responded to Perkins Creek Apartments. As the Deputy arrived, an individual was seen standing near a vehicle that was known to have an active felony warrant. The Deputy advised the subject of the active warrant and they acknowledged he knew and took off running. A foot pursuit was started, the individual was apprehended a short time later near the Environment Center. Charges are pending on a 21-year-old male from Breckenridge for Fleeing Peace Officer by Means other than a Motor Vehicle. At the same time Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office received of another report of an individual being in the apartment complex and had several active warrants one being a felony. The subject was reported to be running through backyards near River Road. A foot pursuit started and eventually ended with a 30-year-old male from Mt Lake being arrested in the 1500 block of 17th Street. Charges are pending for Fleeing Peace Officer by Means Other than a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Windom Police Reported on May 20th at about 2:20 am an officer saw the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was in the process of responding to assist Nobles County for a vehicle pursuit. The pursuit was eastbound on Hwy 60. Cottonwood County Dispatch was contacted shortly later, and the officer was requested to possibly put out some spike strips on Highway 60. The suspect missed the spikes as he proceeded down the Hwy. The suspect was later taken into custody past St James when pursuing units did a pit maneuver and Police Department unit was cancelled and the officer returned to town.
Windom Police Officers took a report of theft. The victim reported that sometime between the hours of 10am and 3pm in the 100 block of 14th Street a mailbox was stolen. It was dark brown in color with a red flip up flag and had wildlife on the side and came to a peak like a barn. Estimated value of the mailbox is $80.
