Two Fairmont residents suffered life-threatening injuries after their motorcycles struck a deer north of Windom. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened Sunday, August 23rd, shortly before 11 a.m. on Highway 71 at 440th Street in Great Bend Township. The State Patrol reports a 2006 Honda motorcycle driven by 56-year-old Donna Lynn Johnson and a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by 62-year-old Trent Dennis Johnson were both traveling north on Highway 71 when they struck a deer. Both riders suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken to Sanford Sioux Falls for treatment. Neither rider was wearing a helmet, according to the report. Road conditions were dry, and alcohol was not suspected to be a factor in the crash. The Windom Police Department, Windom Fire Department and Ambulance, Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Minnesota State Patrol at the scene.

The meeting is intended to provide additional information and clarification surrounding the proposal, including financial, operational and other considerations related to WindomNet and its future. Information expected to be discussed includes WindomNet customer numbers, financial information, the planned 2027 budget, capital needs, existing debt and details surrounding the proposal from Federated Broadband.
