A unique effort to cover Minnesota schools in prayer is back for its 19th year. The Prayer Zone Partners Circle Tour brings together motorcyclists and prayer partners from across the state to ride, pray, and encourage communities as a new school year begins. The concept is simple: anyone can become a Prayer Zone Partner, committing to pray for schools as they drive past them. The Circle Tour takes it a step further, sending riders to public high schools and middle schools across Minnesota. This year’s ride includes 17 groups traveling different routes covering the state of Minnesota. One of the stops will be in Windom on Sunday August 30th, where riders will gather around the school flagpole to pray for a good and safe school year. The Circle Tour began in 2008 and is organized through Minnesota Youth Alive, a Christian organization. Pastor Richard Baker, head coordinator, says the effort has grown to include couples, solo riders, and groups with approximately 85 riders joining for the weekend and 30 riders for the weeks tour who join in at different points of the tour. Each year, participants cover hundreds of schools. The Prayer Zone Partners will pray for about 750 schools including a few private schools. The prayer tour will kick off in Buffalo MN on August 29th and conclude on September 4th. This weekend there will be three different groups stopping at schools within our listening area- Jackson, Mt Lake, Westbrook/Walnut Grove, Red Rock Central, Windom, Worthington and more. According to Baker, the inspiration this year comes from 1 Peter 3:15, which encourages believers to “always be prepared to give an answer for the hope that you have.” Riders say that hope is offered in the form of prayer for students, teachers, and communities. The Prayer Zone Partners Circle Tour is also supported online, with updates posted on the group’s Facebook page. KDOM wishes all the riders a safe and successful ride this week.

I’m not sure this is such a good idea but hey, today is National Crackers over the Keyboard Day. Looking up the why and why and why’s this is one of the most persistent and universally relatable violations! Every keyboard owner has been warned against this but everyone does it anyway you know you are one of them desk lunches, mid-afternoon snacks, late evening cruises on the internet…the hoards of crackers eaten over the keys while reading… I just want to throw this out there even if you just don’t care… Studies show… the average keyboard contains significantly more bacteria per square centimeter than a toilet seat… Don’t trust me this comes from microbiologist that have documented it but it is ignored virtually by everyone!! So crunch away today and enjoy because tomorrow you’ll be cursing the crumbs that are causing your L key and ampersand sign key to stick…
