Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported 49 calls in the week of June 7th to June 13th.  Deputies conducted 10 Civil Processes, 1 Concern for Welfare, 5 Traffic Stops, and 3 Motorist Assists. Deputies responded to  1 Gun Shots Fired, 1 Terroristic Threat and 1 Farm Accident. Deputies investigated and performed Boat & Water, ATV Patrol, 1 Driving Complaint, 1 Computer/Phone Scam and several Animal related calls. Five young women will compete for the title of Miss Mountain Lake during the 2026 Miss Mountain Lake Pageant on Friday, June 19th. The pageant begins at 7 p.m. in the Mountain Lake Public School auditorium and will feature contestants Johanna Elston, Chloie Jensen, Lorelai Morin, Isabelle Penner and Elena Stade. Contestants will be evaluated in four categories: interview, talent, dance routine, and poise and appearance. Depending on the number of competitors, judges may award two or three crowns, along with honors for Best Talent and Miss Congeniality. The evening will also include eight Little Miss participants. In a special tribute, Addyson Janzen, who passed away in December 2023, will be recognized as an honorary candidate. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under. The Miss Mt Lake pageant is one of the featured events of Mountain Lake’s Pow Wow summer celebration weekend.

Meetings today include:

  • Murray County Board of Commissioners will be meeting at 8:30am in the Murray County Government Center. If you would like to listen in by calling or view the meeting via zoom you can find the information on the Murray County Homepage.
  • Jackson County Board of Commissioners and the Drainage Authority will meet at a special time. The Board Meeting will begin at 4:30pm with the Board of Equalization starting at 6:30pm at the Jackson County Court House Commissioners Board Room
  • The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners will be meeting at a special time. The board meeting will begin at 5:30pm and the Board of Appeal and Equalization meeting will start at 6:15pm at the Cottonwood County Courthouse in the Commissioners Room.
  • The St James City Council will be meeting at 5:30pm in James City Hall Council Chambers. Meetings can be viewed live or anytime on the City of St James’s YouTube Channel.
  • The Windom City Council at 6:30 pm at Windom City Hall in the City Council Chambers. Meetings can be viewed live or anytime on the City of Windom’s YouTube Channel.

FORWARD Worthington is inviting the public to take part in another “Capitol Conversations” town hall event on Tuesday, July 7th at 9:00 a.m. at the Worthington Fire Hall, located at 830 Second Avenue in Worthington. Local lawmakers, Senator Bill Weber from District 21 and Representative Marj Fogelman District 21B, will provide a wrap-up of the most recent Minnesota Legislative Session and answer questions from attendees during a Q-and-A session. Complimentary coffee, rolls and water will be served.
