A two-vehicle crash was reported early Saturday morning August 30th, in Cottonwood County. According to the State Patrol, a Ford Focus traveling eastbound on Highway 60 collided with a semi traveling westbound near Mountain Lake Township around 5:40 a.m. The semi driver, 41-year-old male of New Ulm, and his passenger were not injured. The 17-year-old driver of the Ford Focus was taken to Windom Area Hospital for treatment. The driver and passenger in the semi were wearing seatbelts, and it was reported it was unknown if the juvenile was belted. Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash. The Mountain Lake Fire Department, & Ambulance, Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office, and Windom Police assisted at the scene.

August Weather Stats 9/1/25
The monthly weather statistics have been reported for the city of Windom in August. The information is compiled by Dave Fjeld, a local weather observer, and reported to the National Weather Service Office in Sioux Falls. The high temperature for the month was 88 degrees on August 8th. The average high for the month was 79.9 degrees. The low temperature for August was 46 degrees on August 25th. We received four and twenty-seven hundredths of an inch of precipitation for the month, compared to two and thirty-three hundredths of an inch in 2024. For the year we have received 20 and a half inches which is about 13 inches behind last year, due to the fourteen and a half inches we received during the flood in June of 2024.

The Fulda City Council will meet Wednesday, September 3rd at 5 p.m. at City Hall. The meeting will include agenda items of approval of past meeting minutes, August bills totaling just over $311,000, and reports from city departments. The council will also hear updates on a fire hall expansion, review building permits, consider a new tobacco license, and discuss Truth in Taxation.
