The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office says five people were taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle accident on Monday morning.  According to the News Release, the accident happened just after 10:20 a.m. at the intersection of County State Aid Highway 6 and County State Aid Highway 4. A 2013 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 63-year-old male of Centerville, MN, was headed east on CSAH 4 when it failed to stop at a stop sign, colliding with a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 26-year-old female of South Sioux City, Nebraska. The driver of both vehicles and three passengers in the 2024 Chevy were all transported to the hospital with what was thought to be non-life-threatening injuries. Both trucks sustained severe damage and had to be towed from the scene. The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wabasso Ambulance, Lamberton Ambulance, Walnut Grove Ambulance, Centra Care Ambulance, Wanda Fire Department and the Minnesota State Patrol. The crash remains under investigation.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported 17 calls from August 8th to August 10th. Deputies responded to a Disturbance in Jackson, and also to a report of an unattended fire at a rental property in Jackson. The Jackson Fire Department was paged and put out the fire. Deputies assisted MN State Patrol with 3 separate vehicle accidents, responded to a report of a possible Order for Protection Violation, and received a report of a stolen vehicle from an apartment complex in Jackson.  A 2011 BMX 750 was borrowed by another person who has not returned it.  The matter remains under investigation. The Minnesota State Patrol reported a motorcycle crash Sunday evening in Jackson County. Authorities say a 67-year-old male of Ottawa, California, was riding eastbound on Interstate 90 in Rost Township around 5:20 p.m. when a gust of wind caused him to lose control, striking the center median. The driver was taken to Worthington Hospital with what was thought to be non-life-threatening injuries. The road was dry at the time of the crash. Alcohol was not a factor. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Lakefield Ambulance, and Lakefield Fire assisted at the scene.

The 58th Annual Steam and Gas Engine Show is set to kick off Friday night at Voss Park in Butterfield, running through Sunday afternoon. Presented by the Butterfield Threshermen’s Association, the weekend features threshing demonstrations, antique cars and tractors, historic buildings, a tractor and truck pull, live music, and plenty of food. This year’s featured automobile is the classic Model T, and the featured tractors are from Case. Demonstrations will take place on 19 acres, with wheat to thresh, corn to pick, and silage to cut. Admission is $10, covering all events for the entire weekend.
