Windom Police Department reported on the 2nd at 5:01am an officer after initiating a traffic stop, investigated an intoxicated driver in the 1400 block of 17th Street. An arrest was made of a 45-year-old female from Windom for Gross Misdemeanor DWI and Driving After Revocation pending review by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. At 3:43pm officers responded to a two vehicle no injury accident at the intersection of Highway 60 and 12th Street. Minor to no damage was sustained for both vehicles.

The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday. A resolution was passed for an agency agreement with MnDOT, and the board also approved several Interim Use Permits for hot mix plants from Minnesota Paving and Materials, Central Specialties, and Duininck, Inc., each with specific conditions. A closed session was held at 9:07 a.m. under attorney/client privilege to discuss litigation related to the proposed Sioux Rock Quarry expansion project in Delton Township. After reopening the meeting at 9:31 a.m., the board voted to deny a stay request, allowing the matter to move forward through the Court of Appeals. The board approved a resolution related to the quarry project and discussed further planning and zoning items. They also approved an option agreement with the Minnesota DNR for the purchase of tax-forfeited land in Ann Township to be added to the Hurricane Lake Wildlife Management Area. The agreement includes a sale price of $1,760 and an easement requirement for neighboring landowners. Additionally, the board approved a grant disbursal agreement with the Redwood-Cottonwood Rivers Control Area, June warrants totaling just over $66,000, and set a public hearing for July 1st at 9:02 a.m. regarding a business subsidy request for the Mountain Lake Hotel.
