Today in southwest Minnesota, including KDOM’s Listening Area, is expected to experience a significant severe weather event. According to the National Weather Service conditions will deteriorate in the afternoon, with a severe thunderstorm likely to develop. The primary threats associated with this storm include flash flooding, large hail, damaging winds, and the possibility of a tornado. The National Weather Service has issued a severe weather warning for much of the Upper Midwest, including Minnesota. The Storm Prediction Center has identified a significant risk for damaging wind gusts, tornadoes, and large hail in the region. Residents are advised to stay informed about the latest weather updates and to have a plan in place in case of severe weather. It’s important to monitor local forecasts and be prepared to take action if warnings are issued.​ KDOM will be following and reporting updates from the National Weather Service.

Windom Police Department reported on the 23rd at 3:20pm an officer received a call from the Windom Housing Redevelopment Manager reporting a trespasser. After investigation, a 37-year-old female from Windom was arrested for Physically Assaulting and Inflicting Bodily Harm upon a Peace Officer, Assault in the 4th Degree, Trespassing and Obstruct Legal Process. Resisting or Interfere with a Peace Officer while attempting to make a lawful arrest. The Case is being reviewed by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. At 4pm officers were dispatched to the 700 Block of River Road for a damage to property call. Upon investigation, this call involved the same female that was arrested for the aforementioned trespassing call. The female without consent of the owner or person in lawful possession, caused damage to physical property, along with instigating an act of cruelty to an animal. This case is being reviewed by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possible additional charges on said female.

The Windom Area Health Governing Board of Directors will be meeting tonight at 5:30pm in the Large Conference Room at the Hospital. The Windom Area Foundation Board will be meeting on Tuesday April 29th.

Action items include Approving Band and Choir trip for 2027 and approve Cheerleading proposal to compete in two competitions during the 2025-26 School Year. Approve Family Engagement Policy. The Windom City Council will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, April 29th at 5:00pm The Council will meet at City Hall prior to the start of their first night of facility tours. The first five   city department tours will include the Electric Department, Wastewater and Water Treatment Plants, the Street Department, and the Windom Airport.
