Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 1st at 3:32pm deputies took a report of a Burglary in Rural Lamberton. The reporting party stated that his machine shop was broken into. Estimated value of items stolen was $5,705. On the 2nd at 9:50pm deputies were dispatched to County Road 3 and 570th Ave in rural Mountain Lake for a one vehicle accident. Investigation showed that a 55-year-old male from Jordan MN had fallen asleep and hit a field approach. The driver was taken by ambulance to Windom Hospital with a severe lower broken back and was then flown to Sioux Falls.

Windom Police reported on the 6th at around Midnight an officer patrolling on Highway 60 near 6th Street, witnessed a vehicle in front of his squad car driving erratically. The officer initiated a traffic stop on Drake Avenue and after investigation, an arrest was made of a 32-year-old Windom male for 2nd Degree Driving While Impaired, Two or More Aggravating Factors, pending review by the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The City of Fulda announced they will be conducting Hydrant Flushing April 14th to the 18th as weather permits. According to the report, the flushing is a necessary part of on-going program of water main and hydrant maintenance. Citizens are advised to refrain from using water when you see the Water Department in your area. The water is safe to drink; however it is not advised to wash clothes because the disturbed sediments from the water lines could cause red water and stain your clothing.

The Windom Area School Facility Improvement Bond Vote is just about a month away. At this time there is early voting from 8am to 4pm at the Windom District Office located at 1400 17th Street until May 12th. Election Day is Tuesday May 13th from 11am to 8pm at the Windom Community Center. There will be two more informational meetings in the Nest Lobby at the Middle High School. Wednesday April 30th and May 7th both at 5pm. These proposed projects were presented to the community through a district-wide survey and based on community feedback, the School Board refined the project scope by reducing costs by 20% while ensuring the plan still aligned with the community’s values and priorities.
