Mike Hogan

A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Mike Hogan, age 79, of Windom, will be held Saturday, March 29th at 1:00 p.m. at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom.  Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 206 of Windom.  A private family burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, at a later date.

A visitation for Mike will be held at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom on Friday, March 28th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, with Masonic rites at 7:00 PM.  Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 29th at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center for one hour prior to the service, from noon to 1:00 PM.  The service will be livestreamed on the “LaCanne Funeral Home” Facebook page.

Mike Hogan passed away on Friday, February 7th at Windom Area Health in Windom.

Michael Leo Hogan was born on February 5, 1946, in Slayton, Minnesota, to the late Leo and Agnes (Holinka) Hogan.  Mike grew up in Dundee, Minnesota.  He was baptized and confirmed at Saint Gabriels Catholic Church in Fulda, Minnesota, where he also attended grade school.  After graduating from Fulda High School in 1964, Mike attended Worthington Junior College.  In 1966, Mike enlisted in the U.S. Navy.  He served at the Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Virginia as an aircraft mechanic.  Following his service in active duty, Mike was transferred to the Naval Reserve and was honorably discharged in February 1970 and returned home.

On October 28, 1972, Mike was united in marriage to Mary Veigel.  The marriage was blessed with four children, Shawn, Amy, Brent and Tim.  Mike purchased Swap Shop News, a small newspaper that focused solely on advertising. Two years later they purchased Windom Quick Print, a commercial printing company where Mike was the owner operator for 47 years, retiring in 2019.  Mike and Mary were recognized with the Windom Area Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award for their many years of service to the Windom Area in 2019.

Mike was a Life Member of the American Legion Post 206, and he was a member of the Prudence Lodge #97 from 1973-2025.  As a longtime member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, he led a church youth group from 1988-1991.  Mike served on the Windom School Board and Windom Youth Hockey Association Board.  He was a long-time member of Ducks Unlimited. Mike loved the outdoors and spent much time hunting and fishing. He also looked forward to spending time with his friends at morning coffee. Most of all, Mike enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sports and extracurricular activities.

Mike passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Windom Area Health.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Hogan of Windom; children, Shawn Hogan of Belle Plaine, Amy (Robin) Hogan of Rochester, Brent Hogan of Windom and Tim (Miranda) Hogan of Windom; six grandchildren, Cooper (Jillian Bossert), Brodie, Madilyn, Adison, Morgan Roskamp, and Skylar; four siblings, Kathy Hogan of Eagan, Peggy Castelaz of Aurora, IL, Gary (Dana) Hogan of Fulda, and Teena Hogan of Sioux Falls, SD; brother-in-law, Dick Veigel of Abilene, TX; sisters-in-law, Corinne (Jim) Guddal of Plymouth and Donna Revering of Mesa, AZ; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Agnes Hogan; brother, Jerry Hogan; parents-in-law, Theodore and Marvel Veigel; brothers-in-law, Jim Veigel and Bob Revering; and sister-in-law, Wendy Veigel.  Blessed be his memory.
