The Section 504 Home Repair Loans and Grants in Presidentially Declared Disasters Pilot program is OPEN now, According to Windom EDA Director, Tiffany Lamb. This is a new program but could help some folks in the community out with remaining flood damage.

Lamb went onto say, “This program is for those who have household incomes that are very low income by county. For Cottonwood County, this is up to $45,800 for families of 1-4 people and $60,500 for families of 5+ people. As a note, you must occupy the home so this won’t work for rental housing.

Loans are up to $40,000 and at 1% interest over a 20 year period.

Grants are up to $15,000 and are available only to those 62 years of age or older.

This is a Rural Development program through the USDA so that’s where applications go to. For more information, there is a fact sheet and link posted below and on the City of Windom website. .
