Windom Police Department reported on the 9th at approximately 7:45pm an officer was sent to the 1000 block of Lakeview Ave for a theft call, that was later determined to be a burglary. The reporting party, a Windom resident, reported someone had taken apart his trampoline and stolen parts from it along with other items that were inside their house. The reporting party was last at the home on June 8th at approximately 12:13 am. At that time, he had turned on some lights and made sure all the doors and windows were locked. Just before the police arrived, he noticed that the back patio door was open, and he was adamant that he had locked all the doors. Missing was a patio table, a grill, 2 televisions, boxes of miscellaneous belongings and multiple other items. This matter remains under investigation. Also, on the 9th at 7:10pm an officer was on routine patrol in Island Park when he was flagged down by an individual standing next to a truck. The individual was a Jackson resident who wanted to report damage to his truck that was parked in the dirt parking lot next to the West baseball Field. The male stated there was a 1990’s style black Dodge truck with loud exhaust that came into the parking lot and started doing donuts and kicked up rocks and dirt. A rock struck the front passenger window of his truck, shattering it. When he moved the door, all the glass fell out. On the 10th at 1:55am an officer was on patrol on HWY 60 near 24th Street. When the officer ran the vehicle license plate, he noticed the registration expired in 2021. The officer initiated a traffic stop, the owner who was the passenger told the officer the vehicle had not been registered since then, and also told the officer there is no insurance on the vehicle. The vehicle was towed, and a citation was issued to a 22-year-old Worthington female for Uninsured Vehicle and Motor Vehicle Registration Violations.

Steve and I have had such a whirlwind these last three weeks with all of our grandchildren coming for a visit. It has been such a blessing to have each of them with us, to shine their little personalities all over the place. I had to chuckle when I saw it was International Bath Day because Darcy Girl LOVES her bath. The boys not so much… Little boys have the stinkiest feet! I know that Bath Day is a perfect opportunity to relax and reward yourself with the simple pleasures of self-love by doing something that’s just for yourself. NOW if I can only convince my Bucket of Sunshine James that the bath is a good thing… We’ve actually been celebrating Monkey Around Day for the past few weeks, but today makes what we have been doing more official. I mean if you aren’t monkeying around you just aren’t living right! Henry has been blessing us all week with spectacular jokes…

“Hey Henry, do you have a good one in honor of Monkey Around Day?

Why did the banana split?                                                                         It saw a monkey coming

Where do monkeys get their gossip?                                                       On the ape vine

What do you call an angry monkey?                                                        Furious George

Why don’t monkeys play cards in the jungle?                                       There are too many cheetahs!

If there were no bananas, what fruit would monkeys choose?          Ape-ricots

Why did the monkey take its banana to the doctors?                           It wasn’t peeling good

What kind of a key opens a banana?                                                        A mon-key

Okay okay okay… Enough Monkeying Around!!!

“Hey Granny, you do know that today is also National Strawberry Shortcake Day? Good thing we went to the strawberry patch on opening day. I’d hate to NOT celebrate this day! Let’s get baking… “

And let’s end the newscast by acknowledging it is Flag Day. America’s Flag Day marks the Second Continental Congress’s adoption of the first US National Flag on June 14, 1777. The first flag featured the same 13 red and white stripes we see today. The number and arrangement of stars have changed as the number of states has increased over the centuries. The current flag has remained the same since 1960. Fly Old Glory high and proud and to celebrate this day, Henry will be reciting the Pledge, in honor of Flag Day.

Happy Flag Day!!!
