Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported 33 calls in the week of January 7th to the 13th. Deputies conducted 6 Civil Processes, had 2 Suspicious Persons, worked 2 damage to property and conducted 1 traffic stop. Windom Police Department reported on the 15th Officers responded to the central area of town for a possible damage to property to a residence. The matter is still under investigation. Officers also responded to the east hill for a report of a domestic assault type situation. After investigation, parties were advised to separate for the night and the report will be forwarded to the County Attorney’s Office for their review. And Officers responded to South Windom Apartments for a report of an active assault that was taking place. After investigation, Windom Ambulance was paged to assess three people that were involved in the altercation, which all three refused transport. This case is being forwarded to the City Attorney for their review once all witness statements are gathered.

Mountain Lake Police Department reported 11 calls from January 8th to the 15th. Officers responded to two separate burglary alarms that both turned out be false, during a traffic stop, driver a 44-year-old male from Bingham Lake was arrested for a felony warrant. An officer responded to a domestic assault after investigation a 45-year-old male from Mountain Lake was arrested for Assault 2nd Degree, Assault 4th Degree, Domestic Assault, Domestic Assault and Obstruct Legal Process. 4 cars were cited/towed for snowbird parking violations, an officer handled a dog at large call, the Mountain Like Police department assisted the Air Force Office of Special Investigations with an investigation and the Mountain Lake Fire Department and an Officer responded to a report of a gas leak that turned out to be a false alarm.

In case you didn’t hear yesterday… At the Windom City Council Meeting on Tuesday the three new snowplows that are to arrive in Windom shortly have been named! According to Councilwoman Jenny Quade there were a total of 10 names submitted. Winners were:

WINNIE THE PLOW– submitted by Sandra Herder

Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday. Conditional Use Permits submitted were all approved with conditions. The Board assigned funding from the Local Homeless Prevention Aid to DVHHS to use in their Emergency Assistance Eligibility Programs for the entirety of the Local Homeless Prevention Aid program.

Cottonwood County Ditch Authority approved the 2024 ditch assessments after Commissioners from Districts 1, 4, and 5 have met with the Ditch Inspector and approved their district’s ditch assessments.
