The Cottonwood County Auditor Treasurer’s Office has a correction for the date listed for the Cottonwood County Truth in Taxation statement.  Cottonwood County will hold their Truth in Taxation meeting on Wednesday, December 6th at 6:01 pm.  The Truth and Taxation meetings are budget meetings held to allow taxpayers to provide feedback on the county, city, and school budgets.  Again, the Cottonwood County Truth and Taxation meeting will be held Wednesday, December 6th at 6:01pm at the Cottonwood County Courthouse.

Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported 48 calls in the week of November 26th to December 2nd . Deputies conducted 8 Civil Processes, worked 2 damage to property calls, had 2 driving complaints and 11 traffic stops. The Windom Police Department submitted their November Monthly Crime Report that showed they had a total of 553 calls for the month. They had 14 Adult Arrests, 1 Juvenile Arrests and served 1 Warrant. There were 8 Accidents with 2 injuries and 5 DUI’s. Windom Police Officers issued a total of 212 Traffic Violations and Warnings for the month. November Weather Stats 12/4/23

The monthly weather statistics have been reported for the city of Windom in November.  The information is compiled by Dave Fjeld, a local weather observer and reported to the National Weather Service Office in Sioux Falls.  We only received one tenth of an inch of precipitation throughout November compared to an inch and a hundredth last November.  For the year we have received twenty-six and 44 hundredths of an inch compared to twenty and twenty-nine hundredths of an inch in 2022.  The high temperature for the month was 68 degrees on November 15th and the low for the month was 5 degrees on the 28th.  The average high temperature for the month was 55 and a half degrees, just over 10 degrees warmer than last year. The average low for November was 27 degrees.

  • Jackson County Board of Commissioners and the Drainage Authority will meet Tuesday December 5th at 9am at the Jackson County Court House Commissioners Board Room
  • The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners will be meeting Tuesday December 5th at 9:00am at the Cottonwood County Courthouse in the Commissioners Room.
  • The St James City Council will be meeting on Tuesday December 5th at 5:30pm in James City Hall – Council Chambers. Meetings can be viewed live or anytime on the City of St James’s YouTube Channel.
  • The Windom City Council will be meeting Tuesday December 5th at at 6:30pm at Windom City Hall in the City Council Chambers

The Lutheran Social Services Meals has posted their December Calendar of Meals and Upcoming Events.  Special Days at LSS which is located at the Windom Community Center located at 1750 Cottonwood Lake Drive are accordingly.

  • TODAY is Birthday Lunch
  • BINGO- Wednesday December 6th
  • Lunch and Learn- Wednesday December 13th
  • Closed on Friday December 22nd and Monday December 25th.

This service is funded in part by a contract from the Area Agency on Aging with funding from the Federal Older Americans Act through the Minnesota Board on Aging. Additional funds are provided by the State of Minnesota, United Ways, local communities and other adult contributions. Menus are made for a traditional diet.
