Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported 28 calls from November 27th to December 2nd. Deputies responded and investigated 4 separate domestic abuse calls, assisted 10 other agencies with accidents, investigations, motorist, mock interviews and medical calls. Windom Police Department reported that on the 29th, at approximately 5:05pm at the intersection of 10th Street and Highway 60 a male from Windfred SD, driving a 2024 Kensworth Semi Truck was turning north onto Highway 60 from 10th Street when his trailer scraped against the traffic light pole at the intersection. Both the DOT signal pole and the trailer sustained damage.

  • Windom Area Schools Policy Committee meeting in the Superintendent’s Office at 11:00 a.m. to Review Updated Policies.
  • Mt Lake City Council at 5:45pm in the Mt Lake City Hall.
  • Fulda City Council will hold a special council meeting at 6:30pm in Fulda City Hall Council Chambers for Truth in Taxation.

Jackson Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of their Business Decorating Contest. Judges Choice- Boekett Building Center, 2nd Place Crystal Valley and 3rd Place went to Colleen Anderson Insurance Agency. The town is decorated up and you are encouraged to take a spin and visit all the businesses in Jackson. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was the Judges Choice for their Float in the Holiday Fest Parade of Lights. According to Sheriff Shawn Haken, Deputy Jordan Behr spearheaded the idea and decorating of the float. Congratulations to all the winners!

This can be the Merriest time of the year, but it also can be one of the saddest times of the year for people who are grieving the loss of a child. The Compassionate Friends, a Support Group for families after a child dies, will be honoring all children who have passed away by participating in the Around the Globe lighting of a candle on Sunday December 10th at 7pm. This event is for parents and families of children who have died. Doors will open at 6:30pm at the Cottonwood County Historical Museum in the Festival of Trees Gallery located at 812 4th Ave Windom. Materials will be provided to make a special ornament for your child or if you prefer you may bring an ornament to add to the Children’s Tree. There will be time for sharing photos and memories of your child. Refreshments will be served afterwards. Worldwide Candle Lighting is around the Globe and done so that a child’s light will always shine.
