Windom Area Schools Superintendent Jamie Frank reported The Windom Area School campus went into “Shelter in Place” for a few minutes on the 28th while law enforcement checked out a students report of seeing a dangerous individual outside of the Middle/High School Building. Frank went on to say, “All was clear and there was never a dangerous individual on campus.”

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 28th Deputies conducted a requested welfare check on an individual and investigated a possible Domestic Abuse No Contact Order violation. Dispatch transferred a 911 report to the MN State Patrol of a Ford Edge reported to be all over the road on I-90 near the Heron Lake exit and Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance. After investigating, a 63 year old male from Jackson was arrested for 2nd Degree Assault and Domestic Assault.

A hearing has been set for Tuesday December 12th for 43 year old Garrett Loudermilk, of St James who is a former employee of the New Ulm Public Utilities Commission. Loudermilk is accused of stealing a number of items from the PUC building this past weekend. A safe was discovered by Olmsted County Deputies on the side of the road that was connected to New Ulm Public Utilities. Court documents say New Ulm Police were notified Saturday of the safe, which contained documents and invoices related to New Ulm Public Utilities. Loudermilk was traced to the burglaries through his PUC access card. Stolen items included a 2013 GMC Savanna van, a 2016 Ford F350, Dodge Ram 1500, a Kubota tractor, boat motors and numerous electronic devices. When questioned, Loudermilk told authorities that he was planning to take a boat motor to Iowa to trade it for two jet skis. The stolen Public Utility Commissions truck was parked in Hanska near the grain elevator and the stolen van was in Darfur. Charges were filed in Brown County District Court on the 28th. Loudermilk is facing felony second-degree burglary – use of force and felony third-degree burglary charges. Bail is set at $100,000 without conditions, $20,000 with conditions.

The Windom Public Library will be holding an UPCYCLE Ornament Contest this year. This contest is for ALL AGES and everyone is encouraged to participate. Ornaments are to be created out of UPCYCLED items that are in your homes. You are not allowed to purchase anything, it must be made with items you no longer need but don’t want to throw out.
