The Office of the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office by Sheriff Jason Purrington released the following Press Release in reference to a Farm Accident. On September 24th at approximately 3:06pm Cottonwood County Dispatch received a 911 call referencing a male victim that was working in a grain bin and got caught up in the power sweep auger. First Responders were paged to the scene. First Responders were able to get the male victim, identified as 30-year-old Travis Muller, removed from the auger. Muller was transported from the scene by air ambulance to the Twin Cities with severe injuries to his legs. Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Windom Fire Department, Windom Ambulance, Jeffers First Responders, North Memorial Air Ambulance, Minnesota State Patrol and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

The Redwood County Sheriff’s Department released the following press release in regard to missing 81-year-old Jeanine Jackson of Sanborn. On Sunday, the Redwood County Sheriff’s office concluded another coordinated volunteer search for Jeanine Jackson, Age 81. Unfortunately, all searches have failed to locate Ms. Jackson or her dog. The Sheriff’s office will continue their search for Ms. Jackson. Additional coordinated volunteer searches will be announced as they are planned. Residents around the area are asked to search their properties and report anything suspicious to the Sheriff’s office. The Redwood County Sheriff’s Department also are encouraging area farmers to remain vigilant when removing crops from the field. Hunters should also pay special attention when taking to the field. Anyone with information on the location of Jeanine Jackson is asked to contact the Redwood County Sheriff’s office at 507-637-4036.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 21st at 12:08pm a deputy responded to a semi vs tractor crash on the county line on County Road 29 in Kimball Township.  It was determined to have occurred on the Cottonwood County side and was investigated by their department. Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Department report on the accident stated that the 2-vehicle accident had no injuries. A farm tractor driven by a Mountain Lake man was east bound on 440th Street pulling a grain cart. The second vehicle driven by a Sherburn man was also traveling east on 440th Street. The Sherburn man, passed the tractor and as he was moving back into the east bound lane after passing the right wheels of the trailer contacted the left front track mount of the tractor.

Also, on the 20th the Jackson Fire Department was paged to a natural gas line that was cut on the east side of Jackson at 1:19pm. At 4:02pm a deputy received a report of a possible Order for Protection violation.  The matter remains under investigation. At 5pm a deputy received a report of a possible Domestic Abuse No Contact Order violation.  The matter remains under investigation. Deputies conducted a traffic stop in Jackson on US 71 in the 8pm hour and after investigating, a 22-year-old male from Lewisville, TX was arrested for DUI. At 10:42pm Dispatch transferred multiple 911 calls to the MN State Patrol reporting a hay bale that fell off a trailer and was in the driving lane on I-90 east of Jackson.

The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported at approximately 1:45pm a motor vehicle accident with injuries occurred at the intersection of 250th and 350th Ave in Westbrook. A 2011 Volvo Semi Driver was traveling east on County Road 10 when it struck a 2022 Pickup that was traveling north on County Road 6. The Pickup driver was taken to the Hospital by Westbrook Ambulance and the Semi Driver had no injuries.
