Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 19th at 5:09am The Lakefield Ambulance, Lakefield Fire Department, Worthington Ambulance, and a deputy assisted the MN State Patrol with a one vehicle accident with minor injuries on I-90 near the Heron Lake exit. At 5:30pm A deputy responded to a report of a group of Hells Angels parked on US 71 in Jackson by the Pizza Ranch who were having some sort of issue.  A deputy responded and got no cooperation in determining what their issue was.  The deputy later learned one of them had laid their bike down on US 71 but apparently was not injured.  One Warlord MC member was also observed. On the 20th at 9:50am a deputy was requested to assist the MN State Patrol with a crash on I-90 near the Heron Lake exit.  A vehicle was reported to have been travelling at 100 mph+ and struck another vehicle as it was changing lanes. At 8:52pm deputies responded to a report of a male driving a vehicle around Alpha in a careless manner and also brandished a pistol.  Deputies located the male, age 75 from Alpha, and arrested him for 2nd Degree Assault.

Windom Police Department reported a break-in on May 17th at approximately 11:20am. An officer was called to the Cottonwood County Fairgrounds KC Burger Stand that had a door kicked in to the kitchen area. Students had noticed the damage and contacted the ALC School Principal. The Officer made contact with a KC Board Member and are waiting on an estimate of damages. Nothing appeared to be taken.

The Belmont County Park’s new Single-Track will be holding a Grand Opening with a guided tour on June 7th from 4-7pm. The vision to develop a mountain bike park for year-round recreation started back in 2017 and has been in motion since. Everyone is invited on the 7th. Belmont Park is located at 52005  850th Street Jackson. Be sure to bring hiking shoes or boots, a mountain bike, or a couple of mountain bikes will be available for public use. It should be a great outing for Families and Friends.

Lutheran Social Services Meals is preparing for summer and inviting seniors and others to come dine with them. Meals are served at 11:30am at the Windom Community Center Monday through Friday’s. Meals may also be picked up to-go or be home delivered within Windom City Limits. If you would like more information you can call Site Coordinator Kelly Kleven about prices and how best your meal can be served to you. The Jackson Center for the Arts is searching for artists to design seven bench covers. The dimensions or the benches are 72” X 44”. The winning Artist will receive $1.,200 and will be expected to attend a reception on June 15th. The designs are to represent the following cultures: Native American, Northern European, Eastern European, Western European, Asian, African American and Hispanic/Latino. Deadline for submission is Friday June 2nd. Designs must be e-mailed to jacksoncenterforthearts@gmail.com This project is funded by Southwest Minnesota Arts Council.
