Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported 57 calls in the week of April 16th to April 22nd. Deputies assisted 8 vehicles off road, conducted 8 Civil Processes, dealt with 2 ordinance violations, worked 2 suspicious activity cases and made 6 traffic stops. The Windom Police Department reported a DWI on the 24th at approximately 1:30am. As an officer was on patrol eastbound on Highway 60 near County Road 2, he observed a vehicle traveling westbound that was erratic. The Officer turned and followed said vehicle and witnessed vehicle swerving with the lane it was occupying and crossed the solid white fog line. After a traffic stop and investigation, an arrest was made and charges pending on a 57-year-old female from Windom for 4th Degree DWI.

Jeffers City Council met on the 24th. Sandra Wood was present to request approval of a building permit to move storage containers on to her property, which the Council approved. Lance Holmen, Maintenance reported street sweeping will happen early in the first week of May and wanted to remind everyone to please remove vehicles from the street so the sweeper can do its job. Holmen stated that several residents have been having issues with their sewers. He went onto say, this has been caused by the residential services lines and is not a fault of the city sewer system. He then stated they will be checking all city streets for spots in need of repair and he will contact the Pickleball Company. .

Windom Area School Board Superintendent Team will be meeting with MSBA in the Elementary Conference Room on Thursday April 27th at 4pm. The Agenda will be to review the Strategic Plan and the School Board Self Evaluation Report.

The Darfur Sportsman Club’s 58th Annual Smelt and Fish Supper will be happening on Saturday April 29th from 4:30-8pm at Darfur Hall. All proceeds for this event go towards Youth Trap Shoot. Carry out will be available and Darfur Hall is handicap accessible!
