Windom Area Schools will hold a Strategic Planning Committee Meeting TONIGHT at 7pm at the Elementary School Library. The Agenda will cover the elements of the plan which will determine the district’s vision for the next five years, review Foundational Elements including- Belief, Mission, and Vision Statements and also will review Draft Goals and Objectives in each Focus Area.

The Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported 44 calls in the week of February 26th to March 4th. Deputies helped with 2 public assists, conducted 5 Civil Processes, 3 Order for Protection/Harassment Restraining Order Violations, and had 3 traffic stops.

Windom Police Department reported a hit and run on the 7th. A 2007 Honda Accord received rear drivers side damage in a hit and run when it was legally parked on 10th Street and Drake between the hours of 8am and 10:30am.

Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 6th at approximately 6:38pm a Deputy conducted a warrant check on Cedar Ave in Westbrook for Joseph Andrew Glanzer. The warrant was for a misdemeanor DWI out of Nobles County. Glanzer was placed under arrest without incident and deputy met Nobles County at which time Nobles County took custody of Glanzer. ———————————————————————–
Mt Lake City Council met on the 6th. The Council approved a gambling permit for March 16th for Mt Lake Chamber of Commerce who had to cancel their event on February 23rd, due to the blizzard, the Council then set the date of Monday April 3rd for a public hearing on a proposed establishment of tax increment Financing District. An update was given to Council regarding the potential On-Sale Sunday Liquor License Special Election. After recent discussions with the Secretary of State, Cottonwood County, and Midway Township, it was advised to wait until 2024, due to absentee ballot training, cost of the special election, and the uncertainty of the outcome of the special election. Council agreed to wait until 2024 to put the question on the ballot to ask the voters if they would authorize Sunday intoxicating liquor licenses in Mountain Lake. Roundtable An update was given to the council regarding board and commission meetings.

The week of March 20 through the 24 will be a busy one for Windom Area Elementary. The week will feature the “The Great Kindness Challenge.” It will feature different dress up days and fun challenges. On Monday, March 20 recognition will be given to the 1st and 2nd grade Terrific Kids at 2 PM. On Tuesday, March 21 Kindergarten and 1st grade will perform their Spring Concert at 6 PM. 2nd and 3rd grade students will follow up with their Spring Concert at 7 PM. These concerts will take place in the Gold gym at the High School. Thursday, March 23 recognition to the Terrific Kids in grades 3 through 5 for the 3rd Quarter at 2 PM in the Elementary Commons. Finally on Friday, March 24 the 3rd quarter ends, ALSO THERE WILL BE NO Kindergarten classes in session. Windom Area Elementary will be hosting Kindergarten Registration for next year’s Kindergarten students.
