The Windom Police Department reported on the 26th at approximately 10pm an officer was on patrol traveling south on Highway 60 when observing the vehicle in front of him in the right lane traveling the same direction had expired registration. After a traffic stop and investigation, charges are pending on a 23-year-old Arlington MN male for possession of over 1.4 grams of marijuana in a Motor Vehicle.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 27th at Noon The Jackson Fire Dept, Jackson Ambulance, and Sheriff’s Office escorted the Jackson County Central Competition Cheerleading Team to the State tournament. The JCC teams did well at the Minnesota Cheerleaders Coaches Association State Cheerleading Competition at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St Paul. The Varsity cheerleaders placed second in the Class A Non-Tumbling division finishing just behind New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva. The JCC ‘s elementary cheerleaders placed 5th.

Late afternoon on the 27th, Jackson County Deputies responded to a minor accident in Jackson and assisted the Jackson Ambulance with a medical call. At 11:19 pm A deputy conducted a traffic stop in Jackson.  After investigating, a 21-year-old male from Jackson was arrested for DUI. On the 28th deputies responded to three separate vehicle calls. At around Noon, Dispatch received a Fire Alarm at the Okabena High School.  It was determined that a young child.

The Windom Planning Commission will be holding a special meeting on Tuesday January 31st at 7pm at Windom City Hall in the City Council Chambers.

All officers were re-elected at the annual organizational meeting of National Farmers Organization of Minnesota last week. Officers are Joe Neaton of Watertown- State President,  Gregg Klinkner of Sleepy Eye- Vice President, James Minten of Perham- Secretary, Bruce Zeidler of Eagle Bend- State Treasurer, John Zschetzsche of Mountain Lake was reappointed public relations director and editor of the Upper Midwest Newsletter.

This years state convention is tentatively set for December 2nd at Max’s Grill in Olivia.

Cottonwood County 4-H is looking for volunteers that would be willing to teach youth a hobby or skill during thier annual Project Day Spotlight.

Project Day Spotlight is scheduled for Saturday, April 22 from 9 to Noon at the Windom Middle/High School. Sessions are one hour in length and multiple sessions occur at the same time.
