There will be a Pancake Benefit Breakfast for Miguel Esquivel this Sunday, January 22nd from 9-1 at the Windom Community Center hosted by the Windom Lions Club. Not only will there be delicious pancakes, eggs and sausage but a Silent Auction and Bake Sale. Miguel is a 9th grade student at Windom Area Schools and lives in Windom with his parents and three siblings. Miguel needs a life-saving heart and liver transplant, both which need to be from the same donor. There are different ways to help with this Benefit Breakfast… Come Eat, Donate items for the Silent Auction and for the Bake Sale. The 39th Annual Windom Farm and Home Show date has been announced. It will be held on Saturday, March 4th at the Windom Area Middle/High School from 8:30am-2pm. According to Executive Director Emily Cenzano, this event supports and promotes local farm and home related businesses. It is free to the public to attend. The Windom City Council and the Park and Recreation Committee Board had a special meeting on January 11th, this was a public meeting that was attended by many people in AG Community. Discussion was based around the Windom Arena and the future use pertaining to the sand/clay footing. After much discussion and comments the Arena will continue as a multi-use facility with the sand/clay footing continued to be installed as it has in the past from Spring to Fall. According to Council Member Jenny Quade, there was an overwhelming number of community members that shared great information and it has opened up communications.

Windom Police Department had four calls on the 16th. A two vehicle non-injury accident in the HyVee parking lot. An Officer discussed with a Windom Female options concerning a Harassment Restraining Order. At 9:57 am officers were dispatched to HyLife Foods for some drug paraphernalia that was found inside the building. Officers took paraphernalia after investigation as evidence. At Noon officers spoke with a juvenile at the Law Enforcement Center, after investigation, family services were called to assist.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 16th at 1:57am deputies conducted a traffic stop on I-90 near Lakefield that resulted in a citation for speed and possession of more than 1.4 grams of marijuana. At 2:09am deputies responded to a hit and run at the JMC parking lot then at 7:02 conducted a civil standby in Wilder for a property exchange between two parties. There was a report of a vehicle in the ditch on MN 60 near Heron Lake and at 9:16pm a deputy responded to a vehicle that slid off the roadway at the intersection of South Highway and River Street in Jackson and at 9:51pm deputies responded to a domestic disturbance in Alpha.
