The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reported on the 18th at 5:27am A deputy and the Jackson Fire Dept. responded to a vehicle fire on County Road 34 west of Jackson. Crews were on scene for about 30 minutes. At 3:08 PM A deputy conducted a traffic stop on I-90 near Jackson. As a result, the driver was issued a citation for Careless Driving and Speed; 102 mph in a 70-mph zone. At 3:34 PM A deputy conducted a traffic stop on I-90 near Jackson. As a result, the driver was issued a citation for Ted Foss Fail To Move Over. At 4:26 PM A deputy conducted a traffic stop on I-90 near Alpha, as a result, the driver was issued a citation for an Instruction Permit Violation and No Seatbelt.

Mountain Lake Police Department had 12 calls in the past week. On July 11th, Officers assisted Minnesota State Patrol with a single vehicle accident at 400 Cottonwood Drive in Mt Lake and also took a report of a car hitting a dumpster that pushed into The Den Bar and Grill. On the 12th, Officers took a report of a possible rolling domestic but were unable to locate the car. There was a single car accident in A&W drive through, Officers checked on a party walking on the side of Highway, everything was okay, an officer started two Ordinance Abatement Processes and a 60-year-old male from Mt Lake, was arrested for a violation of a Court Violation of Court Order/OFP. On July 14th a 28-year-old male from St James was arrested for three outstanding warrants and Cottonwood County also charged him with criminal damage to property in Mountain Lake. On the 16th Mt Lake Officer assisted another agency with broken down motorist at the intersection of County Road 1 and County Road 3 in Mt Lake. And on the 17th, assisted another agency with a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 60 and E 27th in Mountain Lake and a 68-year-old male from Berkley California was cited for failing to move over for an emergency vehicle.

The Cottonwood County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday this week and Michelle Baumhoefner and Brenda Skrove from A.C.E., met with the board to give an update on A.C.E. programs and volunteers in 2021 and what programs are being conducted in 2022. The Board agreed to move forward with a one-year contract with Routeware for the RECollect app in the amount of $9,151.35. The Commissioners also accepted the quote from Miller-Sellner for the Triton Aluminum Trailer in the amount of $7,410. Discussion was held, and a motion was accepted to set the lease rate for the City of Windom for the Windom Police Department, at $2,050/month for 2023 and to increase the DVHHS Public Health and Human Services lease rates 5% each for 2023. A Lease was approved with SW/WC, covering the period of August 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023, for approximately 265 square feet of office space at the N71 Building at a rate of $15 per square foot ($3,975/year or $331.25/month). The Board approved resolution 22-07-19 “Objection to 2023 Minnesota Department of Human Services Selection of Participating Health Plans.”

A Gun Safety Course will be offered by the Worthington Gun Club on Highway 59 N in Worthington with instructor Jay Clarke. Classroom dates are Mondays August 1st & 8th and Wednesdays August3rd and 10th and Thursday August 11th from 6-9pm Field Day will be Saturday August 13th starting at 8am. You must be 11 years old before the class starts in order to be eligible to participate in this class. Class size is limited to the first 30 students that register.
