The Windom Fire Department was on scene at approximately 6:30pm Wednesday evening for a house fire at 1421 2nd Ave. Firefighters had the scene cleared by 8:45pm. According to Windom Fire Chief Ben Derickson, there were no injuries and everyone was out of the house when the Fire Department arrived on scene. Derickson went on to say that all pets were rescued from the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported a two vehicle accident on April 26th at approximately 4:45pm at the intersection of Highway 60 and 10th Street in Windom. A 16-year-old female driving a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado was making a left turn from eastbound Highway 60 onto 10th street when it collided in the intersection with a 24 year old male driving a 2004 Mazda MPV. The male driver was taken to Windom Area Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Mountain Lake Police reported 13 incidents last week.  Three calls On April 24th . An Officer responded to a burglary Alarm which turned out to be a false alarm. Officers were called to a disturbance with possible assault charges pending this is still under investigation and officers assisted other agency with a hit and run investigation.

On the 23rd Officers received a call of a powerline down. City workers were called out and it turned out to be a Cable TV Line.

On the 22nd Mt Lake Officer checked on a possible stalled vehicle, turns out party was just pulled over. Officer took a report of a theft of a catalytic converter.

On April 21st Mt Lake Officers found an open door at Mt Lake Golf Course and Officers received a call with concerns of a safety ordinance violation.

On April 20th Mt Lake Police officers responded to a burglary Alarm that turned out to be a false alarm and Officers handled a complaint regarding a juvenile in possession of tobacco product.

On the 19th Officers checked on a suspicious vehicle which turned out that vehicle had broken down.

On April 18th at approximately 3:40 in the afternoon Mt Lake Police Officers investigated a report of child abuse. Charges are pending for a 42 year old male for Malicious punishment of a child and Domestic Assault. At approximately 6:15 pm Officers handled a Civil Dispute.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation, in conjunction with AFCME Local

280, will hold a Worker Memorial Day event to honor transportation workers who

were killed or injured on the job Today at 9:30am in the MnDOT Building located

at 2151 Bassett Drive in Mankato. Parking is available on the east side of the

MnDot Building. Representatives from MnDOT, AFSCME Local 289 and Minnesota

State Patrol have been invited to speak. You can visit the MnDOT Worker Memorial website to see the list of fallen workers in Minnesota, to view the proclamation, and to learn more about MnDOT’s transportation worker memorial.

A college and Career Fair will be held on Friday May 13th at the Windom High School from 8:30am to 12:30 pm. Employers interested in participating please contact Krista Nelson at 507-829-1213 or email knelson@swmnpic.org The College and Career Fair is for 7th though 12th grade students from the High School and ALC. Companies looking for summer employees are encouraged to stay from 1-2pm to do on-the-spot interviews with students. Employers are encouraged to come with interactive exhibits for the students. Complimentary rolls, juice and coffee will be provided for employers.

Windom Area Health is offering a Spring Session of their Health Together Class.  Healthy Together is a series of six group classes that focus on the whole person approach to improve your overall wellbeing.
