How often does a team from Windom get to compete in the World Championships?  For the Windom Area High School Robotics Team named Pineapple Posse it happens MAY 3rd through the 8th in Dallas Texas.  The Pineapple Posse is made up of Carter Allen, Ethan Brockman and the only senior on the team Dylan Serreyn.    This is the 10th Season for Windom Robotics. Coach Jill DeFreis is in her 3rd year and they have had qualifiers each year but her first year the competition was cancelled due to CoVid and last year it was done virtually so according to DeFries, this is super special and exciting that the team gets to go to Dallas where there will be 800 teams from around the world.

Windom Area Schools have 5 Robotics teams, three high school teams and two middle school teams.  The Middle School Teams will be headed to Council Bluffs Iowa at the end of March to compete in the “CREATE US OPEN” there will be 97 teams from the US and different parts of the world.

Good luck to the Pineapple Posse as they compete to bring home the world championship.

So many things to celebrate and acknowledge on today, March 21st. Yes it is the day AFTER the First Day of Spring but did you know that today is World Down Syndrome Day? Today gives people with Down Syndrome and their advocates a voice and an opportunity to be heard. It’s a day where we assemble and organize activities to promote public awareness for the genetic disorder. The goal is to educate others on the importance of supporting our friends and family who have directly and indirectly experienced life with Down syndrome.
