Windom Police Department reported on March 3rd they received a report of vandalism. A 2006 Buick that was parked in the 600 block of Redding Ave was vandalized over the weekend. Someone entered the vehicle, ripped his back seat and poured what looked like motor oil in the rip of the back seat. Unknown amount of damage at this time.

Mountain Lake Chamber of Commerce has been starting to get some of the important details down for this year’s Pow Wow Celebration that will be June 17th through the 21st. This year, according to Community Development Director, Rob Anderson they are honored to announce that Representative Rod Hamilton will serve as the 2022 Pow Wow Parade Grand Marshall. The celebration is looking to be bigger and better than ever with Sean Benz providing a Tuesday Night Concert and a special blessing will be given by Paul LaRoche, and his nephew Chris Estes- Members of the Lakota Tribe, prior to the parade. LaRoche is the founder and producer of the award-winning Native American music group Brulé. The group is best known for thrilling audiences with merging cultural rock and theatrical instrumentations. The Chamber Raffle will include a chance to win a car, Pow Wow shirts and Sweatshirts will be available to purchase. Anderson suggests to get your pre-order in early because this year’s shirts are going to go fast. Anderson also stated that there will be more food vendors and great traditional fun activities to round out the celebration.

The monthly weather statistics have been reported for the city of Windom in February.  The information is compiled by a local weather observer and reported to the National Weather Service Office in Sioux Falls.

February was a dryer month than in 2021, reporting 31 hundreths of an inch of precipitation and only 3.4 inches of snowfall verses 5.1 inches in 2021.

The high temperature was 50 degrees on February 21st with the average high for the month being just under 27 degrees.   The low for the month was -14 degrees on February 3rd and 4th.  The average low for the month was 2 degrees above zero.

Mt Lake City Council will meet tonight at 6:30pm at the Mt Lake City Hall. The Wellhead Protection Plan Public Hearing will take place after approval of the Agenda.

Windom Planning Commission will meet Tuesday March 8th at 7pm in the Windom City Hall City Council Chambers.
