The Windom Girls Basketball program had a rare event on Tuesday.
In Windom’s 72-60 win over Jackson County Central, two Windom players scored the 1,000th points of their varsity careers.
Going into the game Allison Letcher needed 7 points to hit 1,000 and Delaney Smith needed 12 points. They joined the 1,000 point club within minutes of each other in the first half. Letcher finished the night with 17 points and Smith led the team with 30 points.
Delaney Smith now has 1,018 points in her varsity career, while Allison Letcher has scored 1,010 points. They are the 9th and 10th players to score at least 1,000 points for the Windom Girls basketball program.
The school’s all-time girls scoring leader is Erica Hormig, who ended her career with 1,669 points. Nicole Maras is 2nd with 1,576 points; Shannon Dunse scored 1,429 points; Sierra Even totalled 1,276 points for her career; Madison Maras had 1,129 points; Lisa Davis finished with 1,097 points; Rheann Piotter had 1,037 points; and Autumn Hauge scored 1,033 points, joining the 1,000 point club last season.
The Windom Boys basketball program has four players who have scoredover 1,000 points for their career. Jake Holt is the school’s all-time leading scorer with 1,948 points.
