Covid-19 Vaccine coming to Windom

Windom Area Health will receive an allotment of the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine next week. The Pfizer vaccine received emergency approval from the US Food & Drug Administration on December 11th.  Windom Area Health has been working with the Minnesota Department of Health, the Southwest Healthcare Preparedness Coalition, and local Public Health officials to identify health-care workers who will receive the initial doses of the vaccine.
Windom Area health plans to perform vaccinations on Tuesday and possibly Wednesday, depending upon the number of doses received in its allotment. The Pfizer vaccine requires a second dose to be administered 21 days after the first dose.
Windom Area Health will be working with local Public Health officials to provide additional vaccinations of the Moderna vaccine once it becomes available.
More information on COVID vaccines is available on the CDC website.
