Windom school threat update

A POSSIBLE THREAT AGAINST THE WINDOM SCHOOL DISTRICT WAS INVESTIGATED MONDAY MORNING.

ACCORDING TO A STATEMENT FROM THE WINDOM POLICE DEPARTMENT, On Monday morning, the Windom Police Department was contacted by the Mankato FBI Office about a potential threat of a school active shooter, being made by a former Windom resident. The threat was very vague about time and location and didn’t reference Windom Schools directly.  The police department was notified as a precaution due to the threat involving schools and a former resident being involved.

Through a joint investigation, it was determined there was no credible threat. Local schools were notified upon receiving the information to respond appropriately and were updated on the conclusion of the investigation.

The Windom School District informed parents out of an abundance of caution.  The school was operating on a “soft lockdown,” with all access to school buildings restricted to the main entrance only.
