Heron Lake-Okabena school goes to distance learning

The Heron Lake –Okabena School district has announced that all grades will be going to distance learning on a temporary basis, starting this Thursday, November 5th.   The move is due to a staff shortage.  A significant number of critical staff members are in quarantine due to covid-19 issues.   The Kindergarten through 12th grade will be in distance learning starting November 5th until Friday, November 13th.  Pre-school will still be attending in person.  The district is planning to have all students return to in-person instruction on Monday, November 16th.  Families that would like to pick up a school lunch during distance learning should contact the high school office at 853-4507 between 8:30-9am. Lunch pick up will be at the elementary school from 11:30-12:30.  Daycare is available for elementary students of Tier I workers, please contact elementary office if needed.
