WINDOM AREA MIDDLE-HIGH SCHOOL HOSTED A V-E-X ROBOTICS TOURNAMENT LAST SATURDAY.    THERE WERE 23 TEAMS INVOLVED.  THE WINDOM “BUTTERFINGERS” TEAM WON THE OVERALL CHAMPIONSHIP.  THE BUTTERFINGERS WENT 6-1 IN QUALIFICATION MATCHES.  FORMING ALLIANCES WITH OTHER TEAMS, THE BUTTERFINDERS THEN WON TWO MATCHES IN THE QUARTER-FINALS; WON TWO MATCHES IN THE SEMI-FINALS, AND WON BOTH MATCHES IN THE FINAL ROUND.  THE WINDOM “IRON EAGLES” TEAM WENT 3-3-1 IN QUALIFICATION MATCHES, AND WAS ELIMINATED IN THE QUARTER-FINALS.
A REGULAR MEETING OF THE WINDOM E-D-A WAS HELD THIS WEEK.    THEY DISCUSSED THE PROPOSED LAND RECLAMATION PROJECT AT THE CURRENT SITE OF THE CEMSTONE PLANT ON COTTONWOOD LAKE DRIVE.  IF THE PLANT MOVES TO THE NORTH WINDOM INDUSTRIAL PARK, THE E-D-A WOULD TRY TO USE THE CURRENT SITE FOR A HOUSING DEVELOPMENT.  IT WAS REPORTED THAT WINDOM DID NOT RECEIVE A STATE TRANSPORTATION GRANT.  THE FUNDS WOULD HAVE BEEN USED FOR A NEW ACCESS ROAD OFF EAST HIGHWAY 60. 
A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE MT LAKE CITY COUNCIL WAS HELD THIS WEEK.    PRESENTATIONS WERE GIVEN BY TWO EXECUTIVE RECRUITMENT FIRMS.   EACH FIRM WAS OFFERING TO HELP THE CITY TO RECRUIT AND HIRE A NEW CITY CLERK-ADMINISTRATOR.  PRESENTATIONS WERE MADE BY DAVID DROWN ASSOCIATES OF FARIBAULT, AND SPRINGSTED-WATERS OF ST. PAUL.    AFTER HEARING THE PRESENTATIONS, THE MT LAKE COUNCIL VOTED TO HIRE DAVID DROWN ASSOCIATES.   THEY HOPE TO HAVE A NEW ADMINISTRATOR HIRED BY EARLY APRIL. 
THE MT LAKE SCHOOL BOARD HELD AN ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING THIS WEEK.     ELECTION OF OFFICERS WAS HELD, WITH CHAD PEDERSEN ELECTED AS CHAIRPERSON, TOM FAST AS VICE-CHAIR, JULIE BRUGMAN AS CLERK, AND PAM HOEK AS TREASURER.  BOARD COMMITTEES WERE SET.  THE BOARD DESIGNATED OFFICIAL DEPOSITORIES.  DISTRICT OFFICIALS WERE DESIGNATED TO HANDLE FINANCIAL BUSINESS.   DUE TO THE UPCOMING HOLIDAY, THE NEXT REGULAR MEETING OF THE MT LAKE SCHOOL BOARD WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 16TH.
THE PRAIRIE ARTS CONTINUUM WILL BE HOLDING AUDITIONS FOR AN UPCOMING DINNER-THEATRE PRODUCTION.  PAC WILL BE STAGING THE 3-ACT COMEDY “Southern Fried Funeral” WITH PERFORMANCES IN MARCH.  THE SHOW IS BEING DIRECTED BY TIM JENNIGES.  THERE ARE 11 PARTS IN THE SHOW – 6 FOR WOMEN AND 5 FOR MEN.   THE PLOT INVOLVES A SOUTHERN FAMILY AND THE CONFLICTS THAT ARIVE WHEN PREPARING FOR A FUNERAL.  AUDITIONS WILL TAKE PLACE ON MONDAY AND TUESDAY FROM 7:00 TO 9:00PM IN THE ‘BARC’ LIBRARY. 
THE BUTTERFIELD-ODIN SCHOOL BOARD HELD AN ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING ON MONDAY.     KRISTY HASEMAN WAS ELECTED AS CHAIRPERSON, WITH ANDY PIERSON AS VICE-CHAIR, SHANNON SYKES AS TREASURER, AND RENAE MEYER AS CLERK.  SALARIES AND PER-DIEM RATES WERE SET.  THE BOARD DESIGNATED THE OFFICIAL DEPOSITORIES AND OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER.  A REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULE WAS ADOPTED.  SCHOOL BOARD COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS WERE REVIEWED.
